דורון לנגברג, המציגים כעת בגלריה Jeffrey Deitch בניו-יורק, מקבלים את רגע התהילה שלהם ב־The New York Times The New York Times, על כרטיס הכניסה של חשבון הנפש הישראלי עם שאלות של מורשת, זהות והיסטוריה בעקבות מלחמת עזה.
הם משלבים את ההיסטוריה המשפחתית האיומה של השואה עם אבחנה (בנאלית למדי) שלפיה העיירה יקנעם שבה מתגוררים הוריהם בישראל ש לווה, בעוד שהאלימות משתוללת רק כמה שעות נסיעה משם.
יש הרבה מה לומר — ובעיקר לעשות — בנוגע ליחסה האכזרי של ישראל לאוכלוסייה האזרחית בעזה ובשטחים הכבושים. אך האמינות של חשבון הנפש של לנגברג, תוקפה של השקפת העולם ההומניסטית שלהם, הולכים לאיבוד. בהצהרה בת 750 מילים שפורסמה באתר הגלריה (קישור מתוך הכתבה הארוכה והמאוירת בנדיבות), אין אזכור לכך שהאלימות הבלתי-פוסקת בעזה הוצתה בטבח הסדיסטי של 1,400 אזרחים ישראלים בידי מחבלי חמאס שפלשו לבתים בישראל ולאתר מסיבת מוזיקה. אין מילה על 240 החטופים — אלה שנרצחו ואלה שעברו התעללות בידי חמאס וארגונים מוסלמיים קיצוניים אחרים בעזה במשך יותר משנתיים.
לנגברג עושים אינסטרומנטליזציה לזיכרון השואה, ובו בזמן מתעלמים מטבח, וממקמים את עצמם — בראיון ל־The New York Times — לצד Gerhard Richter ו־Anselm Kiefer כתקדימים ל“התמודדות עם… אכזריות מצד התוקפן”.
“מה פירוש בית כאשר הוא מבצע זוועות?” שואל לנגברג. לפי ה־ The New York Times, בתערוכה של לנגברג מחירי הציורים הקטנים מתחילים ב-30,000 דולר; הגדולים נעים בין 160,000 ל-240,000 דולר.

It’s called to capitalize.
Doron Langberg, now exhibiting at Jeffrey Deitch in NY has their moment in the NYT on the ticket of the Israeli reckoning with questions of their Israeli heritage, identity and history following the Gaza war . They fuse their families horrific holocaust history with a (rather banal) observation that the town in which their parents live in Israel is peaceful while violence rages only a few hours away.
There is a lot be said and mainly done about Israels brutal treatment of the civil population in Gaza and in the other occupied territories but the credibility of Langberg’s reckoning, the validity of their humane Weltanschauung is lost. In their 750 word statement posted on the gallery site ( link from long generously illustrated article) they do not mention that the unrelenting violence in Gaza was ignited by the sadistic butchering of 1400 Israeli civilians by Hamas terrorists that invaded Israeli homes and a music rave. There is not a word about the 240 hostages, those murdered and those abused by Hamas and other extreme Muslim organizations in Gaza for more then two years . Langberg instrumentalizes holocaust memory and while disregarding a massacre and aligns their self, in the NYT interview with Gerhard Richter and Anselm Kiefer, as precedents for “confronting… brutality from the side of the perpetrator”.
“What does home mean when it perpetrates atrocities?” ask Langberg . According to the NYT at the Langberg show at Deitch, the small paintings start at $30,000; larger ones are between $160,000 and $240,000.
